Orphans here are generally released from the state-run orphanages at age 16. For several years now, the Ukrainian Nehemiah Team has been caring for such young people and has been able to prevent many from slipping into prostitution or criminality. It is as important to find a job or training course as it is to personally accompany them through this difficult phase. The Nehemiah Team continues to be involved in an initiative called Transcarpathia without Orphans. Together with other organisations, they have the ambitious goal of placing all of this region’s orphans into foster care or adoptive families. These parents are provided training in the Nehemiah Training Centre by experienced professionals from Ukraine and other countries.  Retreats and family camps are regularly offered in the Centre to support these families.
