Electricity for Burkina Faso!

17 Jan , 2018

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world. Only a very small percentage of the population has access to electricity. Many people therefore lack an essential prerequisite for the self-responsible improvement of one’s own life situation.

Within the framework of a twin city project of the city of Herzogenaurach for the international youth exchange between young people from France, Germany and Burkina Faso, a team led by Thomas Tschaftary has developed and built a small, environmentally friendly and cost-effective hybrid power plant. It will be built in January 2018 in Burkina Faso.

The combination of a photovoltaic system, a battery storage and a diesel power generator for solar-poor phases, allows the environmentally friendly, reliable and weather-independent supply of a central building with power for lighting, computers, etc. In addition to the opportunity to connect small business projects, small home batteries and LED bulbs have the power to provide enough energy for light and electricity for cell phones in 20 homes.

We hope that this simple and very cost-effective system will positively impact the lives of more than one hundred people and provide them with new development opportunities. Our goal is to use such hybrid small power plants in many places in the world in the future.
The need for it is definitely huge!
