A delegation of “Dayaks” (indigenous people from Borneo) was welcomed by Mayor Dr. Thomas Jung in the Fürth Town Hall. Part of this delegation of Indonesian local politicians were the nehemia employees Wolfgang Oelschlegel and Deckhy Gedeon. Fürth’s local politicians listened with great interest to Indonesian reports on the engagement of the nehemia team in Borneo and the impact of this cooperation of several years. The representatives of Fürth were astonished by the diverse commitment of the nehemia team on Borneo, which, in addition to various training courses and village development projects, is currently promoting the construction of kindergartens in the villages in the jungle. The rapid lifestyle changes of the natives due to rainforest destruction, huge palm oil plantations and the western influence was also discussed.
