Children with a Future – The Nehemiah Children’s Centre

24 Feb , 2015

The Nehemiah Ministry Welfare’s Children’s Centre is a place of hope run by the Indian Nehemiah Team in Rajahmundry. Rajasekhar and Ebba Gudala head up this work, providing food, shelter, clothes, education and medical care for mainly Dalit children. The children can stay in the centre until they are 18 years old, by which time most of them have received occupational training enabling them to care for themselves going forward. The Dalits are at the very bottom of the Hindu caste system. As “untouchables” they suffer many disadvantages and tend to live on the fringes of Indian society. In order to make this work possible, the Nehemia Team has a sponsorship program for supporting these children. To foster even more personal growth, the centre has launched its own kindergarten and there are also plans for a school of their own in the future.
